Before the Calamity, Eorzea was fractured by rivalry between its three major nations. The rise of Garlemald forced these rivals to recognize that isolation meant destruction. Later expansions brought Ishgard into the fold after ending their long isolation, extending the alliance's reach to Northern Eorzea. Following its liberation from Garlean occupation, Ala Mhigo was formally inducted as a full member state of the Eorzean Alliance. This broadened coalition now faces not only imperial legions but also the machinations of the Ascians. It represents a shift from feudal competition to collective survival in a dangerous age.
